Some people record their image of cities by photos,articles, diaries, poems… We do that by freehand sketches. The freehand sketches you find on this website are not only record of building forms and urban spaces, they express our passion of traveling and our pride of being a city resident. Traveling brings excitement and freshness to our mind and our perception of city living. We also believe to live and work in a city is the only way to fully appreciate what a city has to offer. The joyful memories of those little everyday living details in a city build up and formed our pride and love of our cities.

These freehand sketches are drawn with a pen, a sketch book and sometimes charcoal and markers; the time for finishing each one ranges from 3 minutes to half an hour; The articles we choose to use on each city’s intro pages are about the city’s history, natural settings, city issues… any information that we, as design professionals and normal city residents, think is the most important to form the character of the city. On this website there're also articles that are about freehand drawing techniques and issues related to painting and city design.

We hope, eventually, artofcity.com will provide a platform to display and promote art (of any kind) of cities, to exchange city traveling and living experiences, to discuss city issues, the last but not the least, for every city resident to express their pride and love of their cities!
